PurinaCare Pet Insurance Underwriter

Have you been guessing who it is?

It's quite easy to find really, if you know where to look. Purina has filed their product in every state they intend to sell in (and I'm assuming that that's all of them) so if you check the pet insurance filings for Florida (you can do this online), you'll find the underwriter is (drum roll please...) the New Hampshire Insurance Company.

What - you say? You've never heard of the New Hampshire Insurance Company? Well, it just happens to be a subsidiary of AIG - you've probably heard of that one.

So, big brands all round.

So, now we all have to wait for the big launch. Spring has nearly sprung, it should be any minute now.

UPDATE: strangely enough, exactly when I posted this, AIG reported horrible losses from declines in their credit-based portfolio investments. Maybe they won't be so keen to launch a pet insurance product after all?
