I mentioned previously that Lily had an infection in her eye. Well, it's been stubborn to get rid of and so I had to take her back to the vet for that as it popped up again.
In addition, I finally benefited from the Scooplite intelligent kitty litter I blogged about here and here. It's the kind of litter that changes color if the cat's urine is the wrong Ph. We used some of it for Barnes and Lily a week or so ago because we'd run out of our usual stuff and low and behold, it was coming out red (not blood, the indicator color red), which meant something wasn't right with Barnes. So, I took him up to the vet too and got him checked out.
First Lily. The vet doesn't think it's a virus in her eye so just some erythromycin ointment ($11.45) this time, which should chase away that infection. I also had her microchipped while I was there ($41).
And Barnes. His blood work showed some sort of issue (an in-house CBC $24.50), which we now need to look at with a urine sample - not the easiest thing to get from a cat. I am supposed to try to use some funky pellets (Lab Litter $5) for him to pee into in a tray and drop it off at the vet's. Yerr, right, as my mom would say! Even the vet's instructions say "Good Luck!"
He's healthy otherwise so that's good. No obvious issues like lumps or anything from the exam ($36.50) or the ultrasound ($61). Fingers crossed this is only an infection that can be dealt with easily.
