You may have heard about Google Trends, a nifty new Google toy that indicates trends in searches on Google. I was just playing around and thought some results very interesting.
For example, I searched for the term "fleas" today and this is the trend over the last three years. Interestingly enough, many people are searching from the middle of the summer onwards peaking about July and tapering off by the end of the year.
Here's the corresponding "tick" search. As you can see, the searches start earlier and die off much more quickly.
What does this information mean? It's hard to say. If you live in the north, you might start flea and tick prevention in March and stop when the frost hits, according to Dr. Fosters & Smith. If you live where it's relatively warm all year round, you work on prevention all year round.
What this info might show are those people that suddenly notice an infestation starting in June/July and who are looking for help. What do you think?
