We found a new pet insurance company on the web called PetFirst Healthcare. We are still learning about them but I'll add them to the list of current pet insurers to the left.
Taking a quick look at the coverage, it doesn't offer very much that's innovative or new. For example, the products have a benefit schedule that looks almost a carbon copy of VPI's (except some different coverage levels in some cases) and some additional benefits that look very much like the Pet Plan Canada add-ons, such as boarding kennel fees if you get sick and need to board your pet, and advertising and reward allowances if your pet is lost.
From the website, I can't tell if the premiums will go up or benefits decrease in the future as the pet ages and I'm not sure what will happen to premiums or benefits if I claim. We'll find out more and get back to you.
